Discover the authenticity of Morocco and contemplate the vast expanses of the desert on a 6-day desert trip from Marrakesh and ends in Fes. You will have a wonderful experience where you will sleep under the stars in a camp in the desert as you will travel through the Draa Valley and the Dades Valley and see the fortified village of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou and visit Nomads of the High Atlas and enjoy the lanscapes of the middle atlas mountains , and have a break in the cedar forest to feed the barbary monkeys many other interesting places.
Pick-up will take place at your hotel or riad in Marrakech, you will drive across the High Atlas Mountains, sub-range of Moroccan Atlas mountains, going through TiziN´Tichka port and reach an altitude of 2260 m(7414.698ft) with stops for panoramic views and taking pictures of the Berber small villages that camouflage in the landscape, then drive to the Kasabah of Ait Ben Haddou (declared World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986). Famous films have been shot in this spectacular stage, including Gladiator, The Mummy, and. You will walk to the Kasbah to explore its building and history ,after you will have lunch.After that you will drive to Ouarzazate, known as the “Gate of the Sahara.”. Accommodation will be at a riad/hotel in Ouarzazate.
After breakfast in the riad, you will drive through fascinating Dades and Rose Valleys. Your first stop will be at Skoura to walk within the Valley and visit the beautiful and well preserved Kasbah of Ameridil. Then you will continue to the village of KalaaM’gouna, famous for its roses fields and rose products. A rose festival is held here every May each year, when the roses are harvested. Since this is the road of the thousands Kasbahs you’ll have plenty of opportunities to take some beautiful pictures. Our journey continues to Boutaghrar area where you can meet Berber families still living in caves with their goats and sheep . After lunch with Berber family,we continue to the Dades Gorge where you will enjoy seeing the amazing Rock formation called “the monkey Toes” and the still standing Kasbah of Aityul. Overnight in a traditional Berber guest house with dinner and breakfast.
After you have breakfast at the hotel, you will leave the Dades Strait heading to Erg Chebbi at the entrance to the desert. You will see Berber villages scattered on the road and you will pass by Tinjad and arfoud. You will also see the oases of Tafilalet before you reach Merzouga. You will rest a bit in Merzouga before you ride on a camel to cross the desert to a Berber camp. You will be able to take pictures and enjoy the unique desert nature while watching the enchanting sunset. You will spend your night in a berber luxury tent in the camp.
You will wake up early to watch the sunrise before breakfast. You will meet with your driver and you will start exploring Erg Chebbi and the area, you will drive through the road that was formerly used for the Rally “Paris – Dakar. Stop at Tissardmin oasis where we can find fossil quarries still present in the area, we continue then by a road where we can see nomad settlements and learn their secrets and manners. The next stop will be at a viewpoint to contemplate the whole Erg Chebbi. Then you will continue driving through some Berber villages. Then you will reach the village of HassiLbid where you can walk in the oasis where there are wells of water still working till nowadays, in which the source of water is under the sand dunes. We`ll reach then Kamilia Village, originally from Mali, where we´ll take a relaxing cup of tea meanwhile we listen to a concert of the spiritual music of Gnawa. Transfer to your accommodation and free afternoon to enjoy the town or the dunes next to the hotel to see the sunset. Dinner and night in the hotel.
Your camel man will wake you up early in the morning to watch what well may be the best sunrise in your life, then you’ll peacefully camel-trek back to the village of Merzouga. We’ll continue driving towards Agdez, via Alnif and Tazarine, before we get to the fascinating Draa Valley at the edge of the Atlas Mountains, along which lay hundreds of Berber Kasbahs. You will arrive at your accommodation in the evening. Overnight in a traditional guest house in the valley with dinner and breakfast.
After a luxurious breakfast , we we’ll head to Marrakech , enjoying the panoramic view of the palm grove and the scenic moon-like landscape with the beautiful contrast of the Berber villages and the Saghro mountains; an area that has been a popular location for Hollywood films, including The Last Temptation of Christ, Jewel of the Nile, and the Mummy. Our journey will continue through the majestic Tizin’tichka Pass (2260 m) over the High Atlas Mountains, before arriving at your accommodation in Marrakech.
